Jinsun Yang

Ph.D. Candidate, University of Oregon

Jinsun Yang is a Ph.D. candidate in Sociology and is completing a graduate certificate in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies at the University of Oregon. They have also been a queer and feminist activist for over a decade in South Korea, working across anti-gender violence advocacy, feminist organizing, and the queer movement.

Their research focuses on the politics of sex categories, gender policies, and LGBTQ+ activism in sports, examining how the determination of sex becomes a transnational enterprise through both mainstream and alternative sports cultures.

Jinsun has taught courses in the Sociology Department, including Feminist Theories, Gender and Space, and Sports and Social Issues, as well as Bodies and Power and Introduction to WGSS in the Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies program.
